Hostile SpeciesFull NameDinosaursAliasNoneOriginPrehistoric Isle in 1930HomeworldEarthAbilitiesFeral strength, senses, and aggression in generalEach type of dinosaurs has different attack capabilities and patterns

In the first game, set in the year 1930 A.D., the Dinosaurs are shown inhabiting a small island in the center of the Bermuda Triangle, where many ships were reported to have mysteriously disappeared. An expedition is sent to the area to investigate, dispatching two biplanes to lead reconnaissance. Upon arriving on the island, the two biplanes are immediately attacked by the dinosaurs and other hostile prehistoric creatures, forcing the pilots to fight them to explore the island.

For the most part, the dinosaurs in this game display some level of mutation, as some are shown to be way larger than their real life counterparts and are able to shoot fireballs. Aside from the usual stock dinosaurs (pterodactyls, velociraptors, etc) you also face other prehistoric creatures such as cavemen, insects and molluscs. The final boss is a gigantic Tyranossaurus larger than every other dinosaur in the game.

In the second game, the dinosaurs suddenly attack a city, prompting the government to send two helicopters to track down the dinosaurs and rescue any survivors. The two pilots destroy the dinosaurs in the city and follow them through some ruins, reaching an island from where they are seemingly coming from.

Despite you facing the usual dinosaurs in the beginning, as you advance through the game they become more alien-like in their appearances, not really resembling any known dinosaur. The final boss is a grotesque squid-like monster that emerges from a volcano in the middle of the island.

"Hairy man"-type cryptids such as bigfoot or the yeti are pronounced beyond the scope of the work, although both books include a short final section briefly listing such cryptids and "prehistoric survivor" theories regarding them.

Long-lived lineages of animals often get most of the attention, but there are some survivors among the plants, too. Horsetails must be some of the greatest. These archaic plants are often found growing in patches along streamsides and other wet habitats. Place a dinosaur toy among them, and the prehistoric model will look quite at home.

Modern Ginkgo trees are not very different from those that herbivorous dinosaurs may have fed on. A recent Paleobiology study by Wesleyan University paleobotanist Dana Royer and colleagues found that Ginkgo trees seem to do best in disturbed habitats alongside streams and levees, a habitat preference that may have been their downfall. Scientists know from living Ginkgo trees that they grow slowly, start reproducing late and are generally reproductive slowpokes when compared to more recently evolved lineages of plants that live in the same places. Ginkgo trees may have simply been out-bred by other plants when suitable habitats opened up, but this makes it all the more remarkable that one species managed to survive to the present day.

Monotremes, like the platypus, are strange mammals. These archaic, egg-laying forms last shared a common ancestor with marsupial and placental mammals over 175 million years ago, and rare fossils from Australia indicate that there have been platypus-like forms since 110 million years ago. Though often reconstructed with a narrower-snout, the Late Cretaceous Steropodon was a close cousin of early platypuses. A much closer relative to the modern platypus, known as Obdurodon, has been found in more recent rocks spanning about 25 to 5 million years ago. This animal is different from its living relative in retaining adult teeth and some particular skull characteristics, but the skull shape is strikingly similar. Rather than being a new kind of creature that evolved after the dinosaurs, the duck-billed platypus is truly a more archaic kind of mammal with roots that go far deeper than most other mammals on the planet.

Displays images of our backyard neighbors, treefrogs. Remarkable survivors from prehistoric times, they have endured evolution with reptilian dinosaur domination and planetary upheaval and now are delivering a colossal environmental message.

A panel of experts, advocates and sexual assault survivors helped develop the survey. Telephone interviews were conducted with 1,200 adult Texans. The Public Policy Research Institute at Texas AandM University conductedthe interviews.

Has anybody noticed, by the way, how macho the rhetoric of the myth of evolution can be? "Survival of the fittest" is a phrase straight out of the prehistoric locker room -- not to mention "tooth and claw."

It si safe to refer to Darwinism as a myth -- everybody seems to be doing it these days, partly because some of the survivors do not, by biological standards , appear to be the fittest. But in the case of the much-maligned dinosaur we now have a very specific revisionist theory. 041b061a72
